how about some color, or wallpaper, a runner, maybe wainscot, art, accessories...

example, jazz up the console you have w/a diff mirror, and decor items.

how about painting that tray ceiling black?

(or do a white wainscot, black upper wall)

Those lights are very cool. you could do more of a black/silver type of thing

Your entryway should be

1. functional

2. welcoming

3. set the tone for the rest of your home

You do have a mirror and table, so those functions are met.

A chair or bench to sit down and take off one's boots would be nice.

There is no color or art, nothing that makes the entryway feel welcoming, and nothing that gives any sense of who you are, or the house's decor style.

If you don't know what decor you like, please peruse houses and see what you like.

Love what Beth suggests - i think black could add drama - and you need a good shot of texture, it feels pretty cold to me.. the butler (sculpture?) doesnt lend any elegance and that would be something to think about removing - there are a lot of directions you could go, its pretty much a blank slate

I would go with rug/runner and wall art where you still have a hooks.

I think it is very elegant no point IMO to add a buch of stuff maybe a real orchid on the console and a pice of art where the "butler" is standing . Or the art above the console ans the mirror by the butler . I am a lover of simple elgance and IMO no need to decorate the console except for the orchid or a beautiful vase filled with fresh flowers all the time

I do not like the butler. I agree, a bench would be nice, some greenery on the table and the tray ceiling painted black would be very cool.

Our Entrance Foyer is not too large and no space for seating there. LR is adjacent should someone need to change footwear.

while I like the idea of simple, like this orchid, those walls are severly lacking in life. (especially that butler which, while cute, is no way elegant)

if someone wants plain, jane, minimal, no-color, entryway, the add an orchid and be done with it.

No one is saying to overdo the console and pack it full of stuff. sometimes a picture is just an example of one or two things to do.

Personally? I'd bring in some color, paint the walls, paint the tray ceiling, do a killer piece of art, a nice rug. either some, or all.

but if all you want is simple, bring in a white orchid and and silver/white runner and call it a day.

Colorful runner will give it some life. A color on the ceiling is also a great idea. And I agree the butler doesn’t add anything.

Elegant decor absolutely can have a sense of humor and/or be quirky.

The butler however is too readily available to qualify.

What do you mean by “more elegant”. Do you like the light fixtures? Are these photos of your pieces? I had a mock up done and Houzz froze and I lost it. So frustrating. I will try again later.

What does the rest of your home look like? Are you afraid of color?

If you want monochromatic look, black and white is dramatic and elegant. Paint inside of entry doors SW Tricorn Black and inset of tray ceiling also Tricorn black. A satin finish would be nice. Then add modern chandelier. I took look from one of your ideabook saved photos. Add very large art on wall where waiter was. And large sculpture to mark end of entryway. I would only add a rug at door if needed.

For “pop” you need either contrast a I showed or color. Black on inside of doors is key IMO. I saw nothing like your pendants in your ideabooks. They might work better over big island?

Vicky. If you love the pendants then consider the dark ceiling. They will show up better against a dark background. Take a step at a time to see what helps you get closer to your vision. It’s a beautiful space. Enjoy!

I love your foyer and the butler lol, but the first think that came to mind when I saw your post was….. if that ceiling was a contrasting color … black??? Maybe… it would be amazing.

I truly believe nothing else would be needed, but adding anything else in steps will give you what your trying to achieve

Adding imo, that if painting a solid matte dark on ceiling, entry would have a contemporary look, added with your lights, etc. What do you like in the rest of your house?

I think if you or your husband really like the "butler" and want to keep him, you could personalize him in some way. Maybe add a beautiful umbrella stand at his feet, (although not a thing if you live where it never rains:) or stand him next to a marvelous hall tree or coat rack as if he is helping people off with their coats, so he is part of a humorous mise en scène.

Then it is uniquely yours, and not a cliché anyone can purchase off the internet.

Another thing, you could add a long rug to the entryway.

Persian rugs are timeless and go with any style home, traditional or modern, and come in many sizes with varying predominant colors, red, blue, tans, etc..
