How can I adhere this flush drum light shade tothis recessed fixture?

It seems I can pinch the pull down wires to pull the cover off. Looking for tips to adhere the shade myself or with a handyman. Maybe zip tie? There is a diffuser on the shade to hide the recessed portion.

Is this a rental? Otherwise, I'm not sure why you are trying to do this? Its going to be a pain to try and do, and a pain to replace a light bulb, lastly, you will have the shadow of the spider brace coming though, and you will have poor light quality. You can buy covers for square cans that sit flush rather than dropdown like the one you have now.

No, not a rental I just bought the house and there are these tiles that are painted over. I hate the lights it feels like you’re in a old porch instead of a family room so I wanted to update it on a budget

That isn’t how any of that is done. Do you want to burn your house down? If you hate the light, call an electrician and have it changed out. Better yet, learn some basic electrical and drywall and do it yourself.
