and does it need water every 8 to 10 days ...??

does it go out doors for summer??

the leaves have failed... we have to figure out why ... but it really doesnt matter what happens to the leaves after they fail ... at that point.. there is nothing to treat the leaves for .. since they failed ...

so we look to the usual suspects of plant culture to find out why the plant isnt happy ... light.. water ... etc ... humidity is rarely the issue ... unless your house is so dry your skin is itchy and red ... and by that time.. you dont really care about the plants.. you know you have a humidity issue ... and misting isnt going to do much of anything ...

i mention outside.. because many plants thrive outdoors in summer.. in full shade .... generating enough stored energy to make it thru winter indoors ....

Thank you Ken! The tree does have some new leaves emerging, which I failed to mention. I water it moderately as needed, which is typicallly about that often, about every week and a half. It

doesn’t usually give it a deep watering as the pot is a bit big for the plant. I also dont tend to take many of my plants outside in the summer so as to avoid pests.

no drain hole in that pot is there??

next spring.. i would find a nursery pot that fits inside that pot... and repot it in that.. and then slide that in your pretty pot .. its called a pot in pot system ...

i cant see new leaves due to the snow glare outside.. but ill take your word on that ...

and i would use the best media mix you can make or find .. im not sure the pot is too big ... in other words.. i dont think that is an issue ... but if your media is swampy down at the bottom to the pot... that might be an issue ... it would seem to need water above... but if its swampy below .. that might be a problem ...

come mid fall ... i treat all my outdoor houseplants with a systemic product .. and give the plants a couple weeks before i bring them indoors ... thats how i avoid bringing in bugs ..

the ugly leaves are still processing light into energy.. so dont remove them until there is no green left on them ...

Thank you both! I realize its hard to tell in the picture but the pot is plastic and does have drainage holes on the bottom. Its a standard big box store pot.

I can't see much about the leaves in your dark pictures except the brown tips. Brown tips on the leaves of house plants is usually caused by either dehydration, or using tap water for watering. I don't think you're over watering, I think you're not giving it enough water. If your pot is sitting in a saucer, pour water evenly around the plant a little at a time until water runs out of the bottom. You can also sit it in a shower or bathtub and water it. Don't water again until the top 2-3 inches of soil is dry. I don't think a Ficus needs to be in fast draining soil. I also agree that it needs to be re-potted now in a good potting mix. You've gotten some good advice from Ken and Margaritaville, and I wish you much luck with your plant.
