I think work station sinks are a huge rip off but you need to really think about the wood counter with a undermount sink so maybe Joseph will chime in to advise about the install. This is my old kitchen with wood counters but my sink had a drainboard and the wood was not sealed but I oiled it often to protect it with no issue but not undermount where the edge of the wood is exposed all the time .

With a wood countertop, I'd get the ledge sink. Sure, you can make any undermount a ledge with a simple large reveal.

You will not regret either of those Elkays. They are spectacular sinks.

I just saw this thread after posting in another forum. @losangeles90026 did you end up buying the Elkay and if so, in what color? I'm getting ready to order it in the Ricotta color and am worried about staining, crackling, crazing, etc. Or @Joseph Corlett, LLC have you installed it in Ricotta and/or have any thoughts about choosing it in that color? I know you're a big fan of the sink :) and reading your expert feedback on here has been so helpful. Thanks so much!

@lcm1986 i did buy the Elkay ELXUFP3620100 Quartz Luxe 35 7/8" Single Bowl Apron Farmhouse Workstation Sink in parchment. the parchment is more of an off-white and a perfect match to my Ikea cabinet fronts (Bodbyn). It's been in only about a month - no staining, crackling, crazing at all. I think the ricotta is more white and, if I remember correctly, Joseph Corlett said the lightest color he would recommend to anyone is parchment.

So far, I love both the sink and faucet (Kohler k-99259-2BZ) - both a major upgrades from what we had before.

Couple of things about the sink install to be aware of:

1. we used the HUSH sink harness system (what Joseph recommends) which is great, but the supplied steel wire was not long enough (it's a large sink) so we did need to run out and buy a small spool of steel wire at last minute.

2. Also, at last minute, we figured out that the disposer sink flange (the metal neck that goes through sink drain cutout) that comes standard with the disposer was not long enough. I needed to order the extra-long flange that fits extra large sinks. I wish Elkay had put this note in their product / install specs. Elkay says to use only Insinkerator disposers with their sinks.

@losangeles90026 thank you so much for the help! So appreciate all the insider tips and tricks on what to do. Interesting about the ricotta vs parchment. Would you be able to share a photo of your sink? I'm feeling pressure to get this ordered but I don't have my cabinet color chosen and I'm not sure about planning cabinets around the sink color😂 - it's all so overwhelming!

@lcm1986 I can add pic once I get home. If you haven't already, you can go to elkay site and request free color samples - they send you little chips in the different colors.

If possible, I recommend getting settled on a cabinet color (or at least a shortlist of potential colors) before choosing the other stuff (sink, faucet, appliances, counter, wall tile, floor). Sometimes people choose one color for wall cabinets and another color for base cabinets. In that case, decide base cab color before sink color since sink sits on base.
