Aged Cedar Shake Siding question

We are in the process of completely renovating this 1930s cedar shake cottage for my daughter. Windows will be replaced soon and we are needing to make a decision about the exterior. The house has been cleaned twice with a clorox mixture which has lightened the aged cedar shake some. We had to replace some of the bad shakes with new ones. So we have a lots of variation in the color throught all sides of home. Need expert advice on whether to stain or paint?

    painting cedar makes me sadder than painting brick. it doesnt usually take the new shakes many seasons to blend with the older ones. is the photo representative of the entire house?—if yes i think it looks very good right now.
