How old are the kids and how long are they going to use your bathroom? I did the same thing because id rather just clean 1 bathroom so i get it. If its pretty temporary maybe an over the door hanger would suffice. Do you really need the makeup area? Could you move the linen closet to where the m/u vanity is and maybe add laundry pullouts in the closet? If you did that you could have a smaller makeup area between the sinks. I never really give layout advice because there are people here that have great ideas and i enjoy reading them. Im sure this post will attract many ideas, good luck.

You need a wall of hooks and loops sewn on each towel. They will hang dry before the end of the day.

The wall outside the water closet looks like a space to work with for having a hook for each person. Consider for the shower door to have a towel bar included with the door handle so there's a place to access towel when done showering. I have just a door handle on my glass door so I added a matching Command hook right on the glass in same brushed nickel finish to hang towel while showering. For dirty laundry, I would consider using part of the WIC wall as you're leaving the bathroom to have a pull out unit in that wall.

We had the same issue. After we all finish showering, I throw the towels in the dryer for 30 minutes at regular heat. They get put back on the rack. Towels get washed every 2-3 days.

Is that area marked KS a makeup vanity? If so I’d make that whole area a linen closet with laundry at the bottom and hooks on the outside of the doors….the long run of sinks can be expanded and have a small makeup section in the middle. You could also do a wall of hooks outside the bathroom on the long wall in the vestibule by the WIC (for now and then transition to an art wall there when the kids are older).

Can I add the make up vanity to the end instead of the middle of the double sinks? We use both sinks to brush in the morning and I would like to keep one set of toothpaste/brushes etc. between the two. Another question - if I add hooks to the linen closet to hand wet towels, won’t the wood wear out faster?

I wondered what the KS area was too. My question is - will anyone really use a make up vanity? I do like @thinkdesignlive idea. But, I wouldn’t have a lower level make up counter at vanity. I would just extend that counter & have more drawers for storage underneath - perhaps some 'customized' drawers to hold makeup & something on top for electric things needing charging- so hidden storage on top of counter like an appliance garage with outlets in it for toothbrushes, shavers etc

I have international students who share a bathroom and they each have a place in their bedroom to hang the wet towels and they each have a alundry hamper pretty easy. The kids must be very young if 5-6 years is how long they will have to wait to have a shower alone. \Other than that I agreee the tab on the towels hang them no towel bars and honestly IMO the laundry does not need to be in the bathroom but I do not like makeup space in bathrooms so there would be a perfect spot for the hamper I guess .

Another thought - double doors are pretty & can open up a space. I especially like them for an office or a master bedroom that is at end of hallway or top of stairs where they can be seen & have impact. This layout has double doors at both the WIC & bathroom & both sets of doors are seen only at entrance to the vestibule entrance to both which is inside master bedroom. In this design, both sets of double doors seem an unneeded expense - I think constructing double vs single is more $$ - but I think it’s especially a waste of precious wall space for both rooms. I would even go so far as to consider a pocket door for bath - slide to right when facing bath. That expanse of wall that would be gained - towel hooks for all & a place for art! I'd still nix the KS in favor of @thinkdesignlive suggestion. As for WIC, with a single door - well who doesn’t need more wall space in a closet? And the added space in the vestibule with no double doors swinging into it - well I’m sure that increased wall & free floor space can be well utilzed also.

Use the vanity area NOW for a linen closet/hanging space/hamper area for towels. After your children no longer use your bathroom, install a vanity space for yourself. Think of this is a two stage process. Meanwhile…be sure to pre-wire the space for later conversion to a makeup area.

Is the wall large enough on outside of water closet for a (heated!) towel rack.

In regards to cabinet vs linen cupboard for laundry bins, decide which of the two spaces you can give up the room. It doesn’t have to be huge or elaborate; have laundry bins in each bedroom.

Dont forget to put outlets inside your cabinets and even a drawer so your appliances can be stashed. good luck planning.

If it's new construction, can you add a laundry chute directly to the laundry room?

@Mary Ours is a single story home but I have seen many double story homes with a laundry chute which is so convenient

I have a double sink and each sink has cabinets under and a pull out to the side (and columns above- which have a drawer and 1 cabinet, not as pictured below). So the right hand sink has pull outs to the left and the left hand sink has a pull out to the right. I installed the pull outs (like a kitchen garbage pull out) for laundry bags- I will have 4 (whites, colors, active wear and delicates). I was going to put the bags on wooden dowels but will try attaching with velcro first. This way you just grab the bag and bring it t the laundry. The challenge is training husband to use them....

BTW- if you go with columns, I have found that lazy susans on each shelf are invaluable!!!!!

I use over the door hooks and just drape my towel on that. Or they have some different free standing ones.
