Boca Grande is telling residents to pick up the cold shocked iguanas and either humanly kill them or call a trapper. We laugh, but they are warning people to watch out for iguanas falling out of trees.

carolb, If you are near water there can be alot of iguanas. 15+ years ago I was down in Miami, Dinner Key area, there were hundreds of them in the road and turf areas. They eat anything that flowers including vegetable crops. The farmers and nurserymen have real trouble with them. 2 years ago they found my pole beans and ate them to the ground 3 or 4 times. This year I am home more so I can take deal with them. I know a few people that quick veggie gardening because of them eating everything. At work we had dozens of them, we planted a number of butterfly gardens and the lizards ate every one to the ground. A 3 to 6 foot lizard can eat alot each day. Fences don't keep them out as they climb like a squirrel, run fast as lightning and swim like a alligator. They also burrow into the canal banks to lay eggs causing erosion. Too say the least they are more than a nuisance.
