Is Tilebar a bad company?

I ordered tile from Tilebar.com a few weeks ago and have had nothing but problems since then. First, it was a tile that is "not being restocked" so it took them over a week just to figure out if they had enough of it to fill my order. Unlike other pages on their website that indicated some tiles only had _____ sq ft remaining, the tile I ordered did not have that indication. Now, they can't even seem to get the tile delivered at my home. This, after I paid for upgraded delivery. Where is my TILE? Has anyone else done business with Tilebar and had this much trouble with getting their order? at this point I would advise people avoid this company.

I have not have any issues ordering samples from them but I ultimately chose to work with a local tile supplier - I liked that it was family-owned and they know my pro tile installer well. I appreciated that they worked together, I thought it would help me make good choices & avoid any issues down the line

I feel like all retailers are having a hard time. Supply chain issues everywhere, plus not enough employees to figure out the mess. I can't tell you how many stores said they had something in stock online only to be wrong.

They should at least refund the extra money you paid for the expedited delivery, but I don't think they owe you any more than that.

I had ordered several samples from them about a year and a half ago and only received 2. I heard nothing back from them after inquiring about the remainder but since it was an inexpensive loss, I just let it go.

SeattleMCM, thanks for your response but I wasn't asking for anything from them other than the tile I ordered and better communications about when tile might be delivered. A lot of the issue could be solved or avoided with better communications. I want to make sure they actually have/reserved all the tile that I purchased so it isn't sold to someone else making it so I can't finish my flooring. I don't even mind the waiting time for getting the tile if they could just account for where it is and when it will arrive. I do understand that COVID has caused many issues but the lack of control over their inventory is unacceptable. La_La Girl, I definitely plan to do the rest of my tiling projects with local tile stores.

Have had good experiences with them in the past. Meantime, I've been waiting 2 months for a car repair because of back-ordered parts. I think they can't be held accountable for where things are when there are heaps of ships waiting to be unloaded in every harbor...

ACM, I would agree with you but the tile wasn't being imported, in fact it was "not being restocked". I have heard car repairs are very difficult right now. Sorry you're in that bind.

I have always had good luck with Tilebar. I have purchased samples and full orders. They have all been timely with no issues.

Normally I'd expect that too! What I meant is that lack of employees = lack of time to do things like making phone calls, staying really organized with inventory, etc. I've had about five different vendors say that they were going to contact me with project/inventory updates, and did not. I had to reach out to them most of the time.

well I am happy to report that my tile finally arrived. Tile Bar is probably not to blame as much as the transport companies they use to get it to me but better communication and tracking of my order (on Tile Bar's part) could have helped. The transport company had my tile for over two weeks and caused a ton of problems. Sadly I probably won't order tile online anymore because of this experience.

I’ve ordered fron them with no issues, both samples and production tile. However, it was a few years ago, well before the pandemic.

Glad to hear you finally got your tile.

Glad you finally got your tile! Transport has been a mess, but it’s not difficult to communicate that so the customer knows the issue.

I’m getting ready to place a large order from them and can’t get a response if all the tile I order at the same time will be from the same batch. Their lack of communication is making me wonder if I should place the order. Were your tiles all from the same batch?

IMO they don't always know if the tile can be guarenteed to be from one dye lot that is not for them to always know and IMO I would never order tile unless the amount was in stock and from one dye lot. I have used tilebar many times pre covid with no issues but you need to understand with a good price sometimes you need to change what you want.

Just wanted to give an update on the order I placed two weeks ago. It arrived about six days later than expected due to weather, so not a Tilebar issue. I ordered four different tiles and they came on two pallets. They were packed and wrapped very well. We haven't gone through all of the boxes yet to check if any are broken. All tiles were from the same run, which is what I was most concerned about.

jenstl, sorry I didn't see your message sooner. I don't know if our tile was all from the same lot/run but because I was ordering such a large quantity that couldn't be filled from just one of their warehouses the Tilebar guy sent me photos of the tile from the other warehouse to see if I approve of it. It took a week or two just to figure out if they could sell me enough tile to fill our order as it was a closeout tile. I hope you enjoy your tile. I am happy with ours. BTW, if my tiles are from more than one lot it's ok for variations because it would just add to the industrial character.

Just received my order from tilebar after two rapid shipments of samples. My tile arrived very well wrapped and is beautiful, now to install!

Since you ordered a closeout and it could not be supplied from a single location, you most likely would have some different dye lots. Make sure to pull tile from each of the varying dye lots to see how different they may or may not be. You may have to mix them together like you do with paint gallons, so it will all be the same throughout the space. If you install just one box to the next, you will see the difference.

    Good luck!

I've had a terrible experience with TileBar. I ordered a large shipment of tile for a home under construction, and while the delivery was smooth, several boxes of 4 x 12 marble never arrived.

I received an email saying I'd get a credit.

    The credit never showed up.

2 months later, I still don't have the tiles or the credit.

I'll work with Wayfair moving forward.

Good Luck with Wayfair. I ordered a sample tile from them and they sent the wrong color - 3 times. Never again will I order tile from Wayfair.

Just tried to order from them. Placed the order on March 1 and was charged for the purchase (thousands of dollars) Today is March 11, nothing has shipped, and I'm being told it will be at least 10-12 more BUSINESS days. And that's just an estimate, could be longer. I can't afford to hold up my project with this nonsense. Customer service told me "our website states it takes 14 business days for orders to be processed". Also couldn't tell me how long it would take to get to my location once shipped. I should've known better after they screwed up my sample order. Then I was told they'd have to see if I could get approval to cancel. Why would I need it to be approved to be cancelled when nothing has even been done yet? I strongly do NOT recommend. No wonder their Yelp rating is 2.8 - should've done more research upfront.
