I would move the pot around periodically, in order to provide morning sun until 10-11am during all periods of active growth, which is almost all year near the middle of Florida. Compared to MA, dormancy in mid FL occurs briefly and quite late (starts in January-February said an aunt that lived in Ocala) and leaf out occurs quite early (February-March). Getting morning sun only is where I found them in the tropics (afternoon shade; planted in the ground). Inside the home in the summer, they may not perform well.

Try to protect it from hot, drying winds. Maintain the soil as evenly moist as possible with no/few times with dry pr soggy soils in the pot. My aunt acidified the potting mix due to all the active growth and watering. Note: when the sun is weak in the winter months, I used to put the potted ones in full sun here in Texas until early spring. If the plants lack foliage, the pots can be placed in full winter sun.

I've had an Endless summer variety of Hydrangea that I bought from Lowes for several years now. It doesn't need any winter chill to bloom. It blooms for me all the way done in USDA zone 10. It can be erratic in growth and bloom this far south though. For instance, even kept moist, mine oddly decided to go completely dormant all last summer and only started growing at the end of summer. It's in full leaf now. A much more dependable option would be Dombeya which is commonly referred to as "Tropical hydrangea" for it's resemblance to Hydrangea.

How odd. I have lost all foliage due to environmental issues in the summer though. Hard to diagnose what happened to ES now though.

When my Central American relatives came up from Miami, they fell in love with blue Hydrangeas. I LOVE'EM too, and ironically enough, I can't grow them either..., DEER FOOD!
