If the bulbs are still quite firm when gently squeezed, go ahead and plant now. They won't bloom but they should send up some foliage (which you should just ignore until it disappears on its own). Unless you have very suitable storage conditions, they will keep much better in the ground than they will anywhere else.

If the bulbs are shriveled, soft or moldy, toss 'em!

So i found the bulbs and almost all of them have sprouts. so i assume that i can plant them. at least worth a try. i forgot there were sime dahlia bulbs in there too. they are soft and mushy so will trash those unfortunately.

update: well, I planted those daffodils and they just bloomed! wow - I am impressed. I don't feel so bad for being late (as usual). My garden is often neglected and competing for attention with my three small children. So I am very grateful that they decided to grace me with their blooms this year (even though I neglected them!) and I didn't have to wait until next year! thanks as always for the help!!!

Pretty obvious that daffodils are very easy. You did the right thing planting them, but wait and see how strong they grow next Spring. Will they get enough new energy to grow normally? Probably be okay.

In my city, the daffodils are very common and do well. Tulips are getting grazed by the deer especially if away from a structure. Daffodils must really taste really bad.

Many of the small flowered, fragrant daffodils which carry paperwhite genes or jonquilla genetics require little chill and willnflower fine with a spring planting. If theyre big trumpet daffodils or some other large flowered daff, that is quite a surprise that they bloomed nicely, so lucky you!

@katob Z6ish, NE Pa good to know. My neighbor was moving and gave me a bunch so I do not know what type they are. I don't notice a fragrance.
