IMO too much going on on the walls already do nothing above the TV for a place to rest your eyes

Don’t hang anything above the tv, there is already so much going on in the room. Is that the only place the tv can go? It seems really awkward there.

Maybe so! Do you think we need something with height over the collage? When that clock was down needing a battery, I missed the height. Here is that wall.

What about this - calm but just some texture and mimics the round shape in the painting over the fireplace. How do you superimpose the photo like @houssaon did? It’s 28” in diameter.

Remove the clock...it is not art. You do not need anything over the TV but if you want to add something (not the clock) I like the idea of something round.

Really showing only a small area of the room will just get a mish mash of ideas. A room is decorated as a whole not wall by wall. You do not need anything else on the walls shown. Too much already and with the chandelier you are leaning towards overdone. No one can appreciate any of the pieces because there are just too many. The piece you just posted is not calm it creates energy with the texture in a circular motion. IMO the furniture layout needs to be addressed. The TV is squished in a hole potentially blocking the doorway . Please post a picture of the entire room.

That piece of furniture moved from our previous house, and we struggled to make it fit there, because that was a really good piece of furniture from Pottery Barn. They still sell it 10 years later. I think it’s OK with the space around it. I absolutely HATE having a TV above a fireplace; that’s just me, as you see it all the time. Check to see that other photo, y’all, and if there’s already too much, I’ll leave everything as is. As I said, we had the clock down for a while, as it needed the battery, and we missed it there. Thank you - I value everyone’s opinions!

I would put the tv on a wall mount so it will be up a little higher - nothing above it. I would also change the piece over the fireplace - it blends in way too much ( maybe you can create a nice thick wood stained frame for it so it has more definition.

Wonder how your plates would look over the TV? And then tweak the art on the big wall a bit.

Art is to be enjoyed, and a home loved and lived in, so do what makes you happy. It’s not a model home to be staged.

Nothing above tv, but also wanted to mention that tv feels akward there.

Would you be interested in placing sectional by window, tv on long wall on a longer console, and adding more balance and interest next to fireplace.

I like Debbi's suggestion of mounting the TV on the wall for a little height (and viewing flexibility should it be required).

I'd put something long and skinny over the TV if anything. Like a didgeridoo...

Less is more. I would leave that space above the TV “as is“.

We had indeed thought of turning the sofa the other way, but what you can’t see is the water view—a large pond sort of down to the right.

IMO the space above the fireplace should have a strong, graphic canvas.

Thank you for those suggestions. I commissioned that specifically for that spot. It has glass in it, which catches the light. I love it! I agree that is might benefit from a frame, although the artist did not say that.

I would get rid of the console and wall mount the tv on a pull-out swivel. get a very narrow console that is the color of the mantle or close to that blends this all away.

I would also consider changing out the collage wall to a large single piece of art. they seem too small and blend in too much to make an impact in such a large open room.

Is the depth of the fireplace is an issue when watching tv? To me, it looks as if it would be difficult to see the tv when on the far side of the sofa. Is there another room for the tv?

No - you can see it well. We have TVs everywhere, but that is the preferred space; we are going to have a media room when we build out our upstairs space, but I bet still we will be on that comfy sofa in the beautiful room most often, except maybe when watching a movie. :)
