I love the floor and walls.. remember its a shower floor.. I’d use the same as the walls and call it a day. Darker on floor will ”hide” stuff and thats not bad. Can you please tellme your tile selections? I like both… and Im in process too!

Is there a reason that you didn’t try using the frost grout? Just wondering if that would work. . .

How long did you let the grout dry before taking the photo? It’s surprising how much they lighten when completely dry.

I’ve seen quite a few showers with Mapei Warm Gray (I’m using it for my marble shower) - it’s never looked brown in photos. Beth H. used it in her bathroom - I think everywhere except I think she also used black where appropriate - and it looked great with each one of the different tiles she used. I’m surprised that you’re seeing a brown tone in it.

@dmac, we did try the frost at first but it was way too pale, even more washed out than the dove gray. Maybe I need to let everything dry a few more days, it’s only been about 24 hours.

Are you sure that tile with the crackle glaze is rated for shower floor use?

Its not even rated for a wet area, and the DCOF makes it a dangerous choice as well as a non wet area choice that will mold from the inside out. Their PDF is a generic one used for multiple tiles. They use it for every tile they sell. That is very clearly a dry area wall tile.

there are some crackle finish tiles that are ok for wet areas. Do we know if OP checked before buying?

I would recommend sealing those tiles (the tops only) prior to install or grouting.

I did check with the employees at The Tile Shop if it’s ok for shower floor and they assured me it is, one was a tile installer for over 30 years. The “crackle” look is under the surface of the tile, the top of it feels as smooth as the other non crackle tiles.

JR, that's good. when you did a sample grout, did you notice any hazing or different color on the tiles w/the crazing? I'd still want to apply a sealer to those if there is any chance grout could get 'in'.

did you see the color of Warm Grey on my shower tiles? I still say it's the best choice for yours.

are you using the FlexColorCQ ?

in any case, let it fully dry.

I’m in the same quandary and have marble look penny tile and went with warm gray. I hope it’s not too brown. I like what @julieRDorathy says…remember it’s a shower floor 😊 it’s going to be beautiful!

WALL tile. Gloss finish. Not floor tile, matte finish. Thats just the start of the issues. Salesweasels on pure commission will sell you sliced bread for a shower if they could convince you soneone thought it was chic. I bet they’ve never even seen a TCNA manual.

They aren’t a reputable professional supplier is the problem. They are a decorator shop, that sells import knockoffs of major manufacturers. You can trust the actual industry test results for the DCOF test. For permeability. For PEI rating. None of which are supplied here by the retailer. Zero documents that mean anything. Hence the supplier not being reputable.
