Right? Big house. Big fenced-in yard. Dogs in cages. Not cool.

It makes me sad when I see this. Why have a beloved pet if the poor thing has to be caged.

Dogs love their crates. They feel safe and cozy in their little houses. It’s just the design of these prison bars that’s so off putting and it’s just horrifying to look at.

Agreed!! These pups probably did no serious crime!! What’s the bail? I’ll come get them!!!!!

Our dogs crate is necessary and used for his safety.
All pets should be crate trained for unforeseen events like illness/injury recovery, natural disaster displacement, overnight stays at the vet. These VERy stressful times can be made much less stressful if the dog is accustomed to a crate.
Not to mention parties where guests are carelessly leaving foods laying around that the dogs shouldn’t get, or Aunt Mable’s xylitol gum out of her purse she left on the floor.
    Or during hike construction projects.
Or during the young or new-to-you years where a dog is learning to grow in to being left unsupervised when you’re not home.

People who have a hairy canary about crates don’t often consider anything beyond their big kneejerk feelings.

Most people who crate train their dogs don’t leave them locked up unnecessarily or for the whole day. And most dogs who are crate trained often CHOOSE to take breaks, have their own space, and go relax/nap in their own little den. They don’t see it as jail. They see it as their safe space.
And it’s extremely healthy for a dog to have a safe space to retreat to that’s all their own. Especially if there are also young children in the family. They know JUST where to go when things become too much for them. And THAT is safer for both the dogs AND the kids.

Ridiculous justification for caging a member of your family. If they seem to "like" it, it's because you broke them and they gave up because all they want to do is please you. If you think they need a safe space from you that is also sad. And if you think you are giving them a space that they want to be in, why would you ever lock them in. Dogs are extremely social creatures who crave to be in the pack. Solitary confinement is torture.

To address the arguments for crates and whilst some seem like justification I ask you #1) Do these dogs look like they're happy to you? #2) If they like their crates and look at them as a safe space then why are they locked inside and doors not left open? #3)If you have the money to have a big house with bougee custome built crates why not just secure your animals in an unoccupied room aka the laundry room with comfy bedding while giving them room to move around with access to clean water?.... I agree with crate "training" but this is different. This is dogs locked in stationary cages built so as not to be an eyesore. They don'y have the option to come and go as they wish and they are certainly not puppies that need to be house trained. That one poor dog doesn't even have bedding in his crate. If you feel the need to crate your dogs for hours on end on a daily basis then you should not have dogs.
