Dining room wall design?

Hi I am looking to revamp my dining room. The light fixture I am looking for a long light wood fixture along with making the 2 walls in the photo accent walls with wood slats or brick facade or a different color. Any ideas? Thanks Lighting fixture would be something like https://www.overstock.com/Lighting-Ceiling-Fans/LNC-5-Light-Wood-Kitchen-Island-Lighting-Rustic-Chandelier/24207078/product.html?option=40564914&recalg=978,961&recset=897eae5e-3c3e-4209-9df8-f1fa6dda79e2&refccid=TOGUEMO2GUHIDWSKQYUGTOPIZ4&recguid=6238ac61-f68f-43a8-8e27-e4797d37bafe&recidx=1 then I feel the dining room table, chairs will be too dark and not looking to purchase a new table.

True. I was thinking more of accent wall either different color or something else. Across is the kitchen no wall but trying to separate room from kitchen which is why I was thinking accent wall or different color. I guess if I go with a long light either go with non farmhouse look or of I do farmhouse change table.

Drapes are where I would start those are not full enough and by the looks of it not long enough Take the blinds off the windows , a much lighter looking light fixture that actually ligts the table nad please no table cloth left on the table . Your table and chairs have aelegant feel so nice one color drapes in maybe even a linen could be nice they need to be IMO 3x wider than the rod and just touch the floor.. No accent wall and please post pics of the whole room.

Good recommendations cannot be made when we see only a corner of the room. If the DR is open to the kitchen, we need to see the style of the kitchen. Please post a picture of the entire space thanks

Table cloth is temporary with the kids doing crafts etc. otherwise its a clear cloth. Here are photos of the other 2 rooms it connects. Which the living room I am looking to also see what color the orange wall should change too as well. Any ideas.

I would paint all the walls a warm white...BM Swiss Coffee is always lovely. Yes remove the dining room curtains; they are too short. Remove the blinds if you do not need the privacy they afford. Or keep the blinds open most of the time. You need more and better lighting in the living room and the fixture is the dining room can be improved on. LED 4000K bulbs provide a good clear light. The living room rug is too small for the space. BUT you have small children; make your home loving and safe for them now...you will have plenty of time to "decorate" as they get older which they do all too fast.

you think BM Swiss coffee for living room wal to blend with the wood accent wall. the bulbs are all led the soft warm white dimmable. the other leds are too blue-white look unatual. the living room light is wall washer and I was thinking of pinhole highhats but the glare on the tv.

Thanks for the pictures. You don't need any more wall treatments or accent walls. Paint all the walls one color. BM Wind's Breath is nice, and BM Gray Wisp is mentioned on here as a great neutral. Turn the LR rug so it is centered on the sofa and put the front legs on the rug. Because the DR curtains would hang on the baseboard, I would prefer some kind of topper rather than panels. Something like a faux roman shade. And lighter color panels in the LR, right now they blend into the sofa.

Lots of faux roman shades on etsy.com at reasonable prices

Our DR is not large. To open it, replaced drapes with Plantation Shutters. Paint is SW Kilm Beige.

The swiss coffee might look nice in living room.

Your draperies are not great (sorry), Id go with something cleaner like shutters as mentioned above but if you want pattern or softness, maybe roman shades. Id keep the table but update the chairs to something simpler. Slipcovered chairs are great w kids. Id also go with a lighter neutral paint. What kind of budget do you have for this project?

    As mentioned above by @jck910

I think painting all the walls one color, would look great. The paint color will connect all the rooms and look great with your browns. Accent walls don't belong in this space. You already have one. The plank wall, is your accent wall.

If you get chair covers for those traditional dining chairs, then I think the lighting you picked out may work, but it seems this space is also an activity room for the children and it's important for a family to make their space work for them.

I suggest, you keep your drapes, just let them hang and push them to the sides. Change out the lighting to something simple.

There's no Farmhouse style to these rooms.

Try a different light fixture over the table.

Floor to the ceiling patterned and or colorful drapes and NO accent walls.
