Turn an indoor pool into a playroom

Hi, I've got an old indoor pool that I'd like to do away with. It has been empty of water for ten years already and we just use it to store stuff. I'd like to build a floor over the pool and use the room as a rec room/play area. Does anyone have any knowledge on how to do it best?

Is the deck around the perimeter sloped for draining of water? I assume the rest of the house is slab-on-grade. Simplest would be to bring in crushed stone or gravel, compact properly, and install new slab. The perimeter would be demolished and replaced. If it's dry as a bone and you want a "safe" room or such, it could be constructed with wood framing.

Thank you again for your reply! There is concrete flooring around the pool now and if we fill the pool up with compacted gravel, can we frame right on top, using columns as well maybe, with out pouring a new slab?

You mean frame the whole area and put plywood or such on top? Sure.
