I was just thinking about how easily some of these treasures can be lost.

Of course, in mild climates, RagRob is tenacious enough to MAKE people pay attention.

I always loved the name "Ragged Robin" - I thought it referred to the sort of disorganized semi-double blooms. I knew its original name was 'Gloire des Rosomanes', but I did NOT know that the translation of that is Rose Maniacs Glory! So very funny - one rose has accumulated two names, both of which are very evocative (to me) of casual affection for the rose, instead of the usual (especially in the mid 19th century!) formal or grandiose names. So wonderful.

I used to be part of an email group called "Rose Nuts," so when I heard the name 'Gloire des Rosomanes', it "spoke" to me. And the rose still does.
