It is sikkens cetol 1/23 color "Dark Oak" and the underlying wood species is Douglas Fir. Sikkens products are an oil based stain that requires a 3 coat process. The stain is highly durable and Cowart warranties the stain (when we complete it in our shop) for 3 years but it should last much longer. The other benefit is the maintenance which is simply a re-coat with step 3 of the stain process whenever you want to "freshen" the door. I would say this is small price to pay for the beauty of wood. Moreover, it really busts the myth about maintaining wood doors. Let us know if you have additional questions.
