Replace original bathroom door trim?

last modified: 4 years ago

Updating a bathroom to a transitional style. New window will

have simple flat trim, new built-in caninet will have same simple flat trim with Shaker doors, 3” tile bullnose baseboards where there isn’t 12x24 limestone-look tile wainscot that matches floor and shower. Custom glass shower enclosure bc it’s an attic bathroom with a sloped ceiling. Door itself ans doorknob and doorplate are from another era. The rest of the Victorian house has a mix of trim (Eastlake Victorian with different periods of building so the trim that was common then!).

I want to save time and money and think the original trim can stay. People won’t really see the door AND the other trims in the same view. Thoughts?

view from doorway - blue tape is where half wall wainscot ends, toilet under left medicine cabinet, sink under right medicine cabinet on 51” vanity

view from toilet after stepping around partial wall and into room, sink on left of photo, hole in wall will have Shaker 2-door cabinet with 2-inch trim
