Darkest midnight blue might be fine on slate, with enlarged pattern. It includes the color much like the wood railings.

Thank you @everdebz! I’m new to the site so haven’t added any idea boards yet. I am actually going for a brighter look. Mix of contemporary/French/farmhouse. We will be renovating that living room you see from the foyer and it will have hardwood floors. We are not renovating the foyer but would like to tie in these styles. I just read your post- the second photo shows softly muted blue-green? Little one, hard to imagine a mirror like many hang -- maybe an upholstered bench? I'm slightly off topic, but it relates.

I think it would look best if all three rugs match - it would make things cohesive instead of busy.

Yes, I plan to put this mirror and upholstered bench from our current house in the new house. I do like the idea of a dark navy rug on the slate floor.
