Wow!

Fun! When I renovated my kitchen, we found a card signed by each of the men who had worked on the original - electricians, plumber, carpenter, and my dad. Part of the fun was that the plumber and one of the electricians were the sons of the original workers. The carpenter was the same man (it’s a small town). We signed the back of the card, noted our relations to the original crew, and stuck it back for the next generation to find.

We have never found a treasure trove inside a wall, but darn near everything else.

We found a plasterer's trowel inside one wall from the 1920s. It was still in good shape other than rust, so I cleaned it up and still use it.

A large stuffed Teddy Bear was found to be the cause of a slow flow rate in an air duct. How it got there is still a mystery.

Old magazines and newspapers are fairly common. But The Secret of the Old Clock, a Nancy Drew mystery from the 1930s was a bit unusual. Since the last few pagers were missing, i never did find out who did it.

The most exciting thing we ever found was a live hornets' nest. I had no idea that old carpenters could move that fast.

My hubs found a bone handled Bowie knife in the wall of a 19th century house he was remodeling. I had it until my house was burglarized & it was among the things stolen.
