Are you keeping the rug? It's at odds with a coastal vibe. And when you say you're looking for suggestions other than pillows does that mean you're not interested in changing the pillows?

i agree that the rug though nice doesn't work with coastal. if you keep th rug bring in some color from it to the rest of the room. or if you want coastel get a rug to match your pillows

You could use some texture in that space. How about a sisal or jute rug instead of the red one and bamboo Roman shades instead of your white window treatments?

I'd either go with a rug that works with the coastal look, or move away from coastal and embrace the rug.

I agree with others...I would do romans or simple, textured drapes. Maybe some bold art that is coastal but unexpected? Maybe swap out the coffee or side table for something a bit more interesting?

Lose the rug (gotta keep it bright) so add sheer white curtains and buy 2 or 3 coral colored pillow covers. Finally add a tad more coral by adding a coral candle perhaps &/or a coral accessory or 2 for the tables. U may even consider some art prints to bring in some more lil pops of color into the room.

You change the pillows. Fabric is too wimpy for the rug (which is great).
