Drapes for off centre window

Hi, I’m ordering custom drapes for this window. I could have the panels extend all the way to the wall on the left side (a stack back of 15“). But would that look strange, given how off centred the window is? Perhaps I should have a stack back of 5” instead? Your expertise would be much appreciated. Thanks. Rosemary

Maybe it's just this photo, but it looks to me like the window is actually well centered and there is room for equal stack backs, even with the left one going all the way to the corner. You wouldn't want the draperies ending right next to the door (as they would if the window was farther to the right). The door needs breathing space too. (I used a linen for the drapes in the edited photo, but you might want something more assertive.)

My first thought on seeing the photo is that I would want to reverse the furniture, sectional in the corner (rotated left 90 degrees) and chair toward the door. That would leave more of the window visible, since the low ottoman would be under it, and I think the whole arrangement would feel more centered on the window. Lighting placement might be an issue, though; is that a floor lamp? Is there a TV in the lower right corner of this photo that needs to be considered? Does the chair swivel?

    Nice space!

Hang a rod that does not go all the way to the wall on the left, and nearly reaches the switchplate on the right. Then stack the drapes so that the windows appear more centered than they are. Nobody’s going to know there’s more wall than window behind the drapes on the right side.

Thank you SimplyNatural. I agree totally about the placement of the sectional. I did in fact originally have the furniture arranged as you suggested. However, it didn’t work given furniture I have to work with — in particular the height of the nested end tables clashed with the low height of the ottoman end of the sectional. I’ve taken a photo from a different angle so you can see the space I’m working with. I LOVE your pic with drapes added! So I’ve made up my mind that the drapes can indeed extend to the wall. Thank you.

I played with moving the bookcase to the right-side wall, which might allow the sectional to be in the corner with the nesting tables still next to the arm rather than the ottoman? Here are visuals. (I like the existing placement of the floor lamp better, though.) Please excuse the blockiness of everything; this is the free SketchUp, which is limited. Couldn't manage this much editing of the photo!

Just a thought; the room is lovely either way.

Exactly what I was going to suggest about the cabinet! Notice how the visual "weight" of the cabinet counterbalances the heft of the sofa. Now on to the window treatment and a piece of art over the sofa.
