What is going on outside the sliders? You want to see out during the day, and for the most part, if you can see out no one can see in, unless nose is pressed upon the glass. I probably would solve the problem from the outside, not the inside.

That said, I have privacy outside and inside. I have the 7" stack back Hunter Douglas blinds. They are fab for privacy, insulation, however, you wouldn't use them during the day.

You definitely need privacy but I can see that at times you might want to see out or have light control too. I would use HD Luminette. All the convenience of verticals( yes , verticals are extremely convenient!) but with a lovely sheer fabric overlay that gives the appearance of sheer drapes. You can do center draw or one way draw!

We put a hunter Douglas roller shade on our sliding glass door (and the rest of the windows in our living space). I love it. We rarely want daytime privacy so they are out of the way. I kind of hate vertical blinds personally but if you want daytime privacy that's probably the way to go.
