Cream looks the best, then white. If I had to pick a colored option, it would honestly be the 'blaze' you came up with.

I would like the look of cream appliances in this setting, but I would be cautious -- if one needs to be replaced, the color might have been discontinued by then.

It appears you are designing your kitchen around available refrigerator colors, which seems odd.

Can you get real wood samples to view? Looking at the cartoon-ish drawings doesn;t really help. Get real wood painted samples and view them with the real wood and real concrete to get the best effect.

On another note, are you doing tile counter tops? What are the diamonds supposed to emulate?

DIANA: I have an entire building made from the same wood we will use. That structure also has cathedral ceilings and concrete floors, so I am familiar with the opportunities and challenges of these materials. The long, narrow shape of our room (14 x 22), along with the reclaimed wood walls & ceiling, will give a Viking Longhouse feel to the space. As such, accents of red and blue would be quite appropriate and indeed were often used by the famous MN cabin architect Edwin Lundie in his designs.

We are not doing tile countertops. Countertop material TBD, but I'm leaning towards honed granite, soapstone or matte laminate. The backsplash pictured is just a placeholder. We will do a 6" TBD tile backsplash to add color.

Ivory also appeals from it's ability to lighten and soften a space that will be dominated by the strong character of the reclaimed fir.

PATRICIA: Though it seems to be a very popular option, I agree with not using reclaimed wood for cabinets. Not cleanable. I also don't think I'll use it in the bathrooms, or in the bunks. I think I'd constantly be removing slivers from grandkids fingers! I'll give your suggestion of a light green a try.

wood walls are going to make the room darker, so cream cabinets will brighten it up. (and bright white will be too stark.)

See if you can find any inspiration from these pics. Personally, I think a green or blue with stainless would work well. I might would even do a two-tone kitchen with wood stained bottoms and painted uppers. Honed or leather black granite would work well. I have that in my kitchen and love it.

I thought the red cabinets from your other discussion looked good. Kind of gave one rest from all the wood variations.

Choose the colour that makes you happiest. Then use it judiciously. Test large samples of the actual colour you want to use in the actual space where it would live. You'll likely find that you need to adjust the shade a bit to go with your reclaimed cedar and you'll likely need to adjust the proportions of each colour that you use.

For example, you might think you're going to do an all blue kitchen. But when you see the colours in situ, it may become obvious that blue should be the accent rather than the main colour. So you end up having a blue fridge and backsplash, but white/pale cabinets.

I don't think your diagrams will give you a good sense of what colours will work. For example, version E looks unpleasantly stark in the diagram but would probably be ok in real life. For what it's worth, even though I am Team Blue on most things, I think some version of green will probably work better with the cedar. It will feel more natural, relaxing and woodsy.

Might as well ask how many walls you mean, and entire ceiling wood? -- 'interior walls & cathedral ceiling will be made from reclaimed fir'

Hello Everyone! Thanks for the input. Please note:

I wish we could play with samples in the actual space, but this kitchen is for a "yet-to-be" built cabin. If we don't want to go months without a kitchen, we will need to order the cabinets long before the interior wood is installed!

I'm leaning towards the all red or all cream options as I think these will play with the red tones of the reclaimed fir. I'll post updates as our project progresses. Our main house has all cream, so red would give me something different.

Go with the cream. The red or orange is going to be too close and clash with the wood. Dark green is going to look twee. I like the sage, but from your other choices, I don't think it's going to mesh with your personal style. Fridge should def be SS.

This is the wood we will use: vertically installed 1x10” reclaimed planks on all walls and ceilings. we will have similar beams to these. As you can see, the wood has a ton of character, thus my concern about cabinetry.

As Patricia said, ditch the idea of matching appliances. When that expensive fridge goes on the fritz and you try and get a new one to match your cabinets and they no longer have that color or the dyelot is so different from what you have, then what?

Additionally, a glass color will NEVER match wood colors. Not going to happen because both reflect light differently, so even if you have the same exact color they will read differently.

Go with stainless as suggested or get a panel ready fridge if you want to match it to the cabinets.

I vote for a sage green because it's the complement of red on the color wheel and this way it will help play up the cabinets in a positive way.

Hard to argue with an artist when it comes to color, I have given up years ago.

I love the cream option with the fir, but I’d still use stainless appliances, not cream-colored ones. And I think that the sage cabinets/stainless appliances would also love lovely against the fir. But it depends on the feel that you’re going for in the cabin. My dream cabin would be muted and serene, but my husband’s dream cabin would likely be more arty and colorful.
