Thank you, Tim. But more questions. So for instance, in this particular room, the lamp on the side table - the cord goes where? I dont see it extending down the back or side of the table, I dont see it go to the side wall. Does it traverse to the fireplace wall? And does this method of pulling things out from the walls depend on having an area rug? What if you have wall to wall carpet?

I am sure for this shot we coiled up the cord; otherwise it would have been secured to the bottom of the sofa and traveled down to the middle of the mirror.

Securing it to the bottom of the sofa is a great idea and one I would not have thought of. So its inevitable that there will be some cord dragging across the floor. Our living room is a lot like this, but there are door ways where the book case is, and I am afraid pulling out the sofa would obstruct entrance into our room. As it is now, we have an L shaped sofa in a room like this, and I dont find it good for conversation or an intimate feeling. This is a gorgeous room - the carpet, the mirror, the side chair. Gorgeous.

Google "electric cords under rugs." It's a terrible idea, it's a very real fire hazard. I have been tempted a zillion times to do it, but I just can't bring myself to take the risk.
