The flowers look more like Lespedeza cuneata, than any of the other Lespedeza species occuring in Georgia, but if the leaf in your photo belongs to the flowers, then it can't be Lespedeza which have shorter, wider, leaves of 3. Could you get a better photo showing the foliage and form?

There were a few of these growing along a stream bank under a mature hardwood canopy, not a typical place for lespedeza. The leaves and stem in the pic belong to the flower. May be a few days before I can revisit.

Not a whole lot more to go on. The plant is spindly up to 2 feet long, grows almost vine like. Never saw one standing upright. Did see the on the upper slopes also. They have an angular - square? stem, alternate leaf arrangement.

Possibly a species of vicia? It looks vaguely vetch-like to me, though the leaves are sparse for a vetch.
