Yippee! I just got one from RVRs and it has buds already.

Well, THAT would be a grand surprise!!!!

WOW - I love the colors, from bright red to dark purple - that is what I call a nice "fade".

HMF says that RVR "lost" this rose - does this mean they found it again, or did they get it from another source? Whatever, it is great that they are selling it again.

I have seen this too, Jackie. Paul surmised RVRs lost them when they did not appear for years for sale. I don't know how they resurrected a source unless it's another Spring miracle.

Maybe Paul Barden knows.

I have been to the RVR nursery (a few years ago), and they have so many lush gardens overflowing with roses that it did not seem odd to me that they may have lost one! Glad they found it again!

I've no idea how it finally ended up in Rogue Valley's inventory. I was informed nearly ten years ago that they'd lost the plants I sent them to built inventory, so its a mystery to me how it finally came back.

Like Jeri, I will be curious to see if they've got the right variety.

I‘m really hoping it’s correct, along with Umbra, too. 🤞 I have both coming in May and I’ll be sure to share some photos of Carolyn Supinger once she blooms.

I love how saturated the complementary colors are.

I am really hopeful RVRs got it right and now if only the bud/bloom pictures can follow. I'll post photos too.

It's so unique, it will be easy to ID from photos.

Popping in to say I ordered one when another thread here recently mentioned it was in stock. It has one tiny bud but I think I spy a pale color underneath the green so I'm a little worried. However it's too soon to tell and I'll find out soon enough. I'll post pics if the bud turns out to look like Carolyn or post if it's not her. I am keeping my eye out for treasure trail to get back in stock as well. I have a small yard so as it gets filled up my interest in smaller rose plants increases......

kw - the rose you got is very small, I would not decide anything based on the color of the first bud that opens - I have had baby roses which produced blooms on their first or second buds which bore no resemblance to the color on all of the blooms once the plant got a bit bigger. However, I would love to see a picture of it anyway!

In my experience, this rose shows a deep coloring even on buds that are just starting to show petals. I'm going to be very interested to see if @k w has the right rose.

When it is cold here, some plants can go off color and be pale in bud. A Twilight Zone bud has done that and I am going to prune it off.

I suppose in a different climate, such a thing is possible - just because I haven't witnessed it doesn't mean it can't happen, after all.

Carolyn's buds are not showing color yet. The TZ bud was made over the Winter that was off color.

I am happy to say the bud is looking more promising. It looks darker now in between the green bud peeking out. I am excited.

Although no buds are in sight yet, the foliage of the plant I received from Rogue Valley Roses matches perfectly with all of the images of ‘Carolyn Supinger’ I can find, both here and on HelpMeFind. My little plant is also thornless.

I didn't realize it was thornless. Mine is thornless too! Yay!!!

I once had a Konigen von Danemark band with an initial almost white bloom. It was so weird. I have the photos somewhere. Later blooms were all true to color. Go figure.

I am also due a couple of Carolyn Supingers from RVR. 🤞 I’ll post pics along with everyone else. So excited for this rose!!!

Also, I wanted to add how responsive and helpful RVR has been the last couple of years. My emailed questions have been answered within 24-48 hours! Everyone has been very friendly, helpful and professional. If RVR is locating old stock, that’s even more impressive!

Its not.

Juvenile branches may have few or no thorns, but I assure you, this variety is not thornless.

I believe this is Carolyn Supinger :) she is lovelier in person than this picture. I need to repot her from her shipping container. The flower may be a little damaged from pests (this summer aphids and things that look like caterpillars but probably not are eating my buds to my annoyance) and it is still amazing. Thank you Paul for breeding her and thanks to rvr for finding her and making her available. One of the best impulse buys ever. Thanks Houzz too for posting this thread which made me impulse buy her.

@k w, that is a gorgeous photo! My band from RVR now has lots of new growth and I even found a first bud this morning. I can‘t wait for it to bloom!

Wow! That color is jaw droppingly rich!! My RVR CS is coming next week, shipping along with another rose that won’t be ready until then. All these pics are giving me major Carly Simon-esque anticipation! Carol

The first bloom on my ’Carolyn Supinger’ from Rogue Valley Roses opened yesterday. It is a gorgeous little rose! I am sure the fragrance will change as the plant matures, but right now it reminds of sweet-spicy wild clover blossoms. This little plant is currently growing indoors in an 8 inch pot under LED lights. It has 28 buds with more forming. I think this one will quickly become a favorite!

Mine just opened too. RVRs came through. I love it. The color is gorgeous!

Well, it looks like RVR has got the correct rose, so hooray! Ain't the color great?!
