I’m not a pro, but I think your rooms look cohesive and beautiful. Is the neutral palette too neutral for you? The current window treatment seem fine to me but let’s hope some of the designer pros weigh in.

Thanks RedRyder! I like the neutral palette and don’t feel it’s too neutral for me :) I’d like to keep it, but just add some softness to the kitchen and decide how to place the curtain panels in the family room.

I like the first but I hate those blinds that is all you see . If you need heat and light control use solar shades to keep the view and daytime privacy and at night close the drapes if you need privacy BTW the drpes need to be IMO 3 x the width of the rod in both cases Ilike the DR with the 2 sets but the lening mirror showing peoples feet while ding is not a good idea . I would look for an oversized piece of art on that wall.

I would vote 1 & 2 over 3 & 4. 3 & 4 look a bit choppy to me. (But that is just my opinion - I'm not a designer.)

I think adding fabric shades in the kitchen would be a nice add - a new texture. So would you do the same roman shade over the windows flanking the door and the window over the sink? If you install the shade over the sink under the wood valance, I am afraid it might get 'lost'. would it be weird to install the shade over the wood valance?

and... not sure about installing roman shades over shutters - might be tricky.

Lizzie- Placing the shade over the cornice is definitely something to think about. Great idea! I will have to consider that 🤗

The home is beautifully decorated, but I am wondering why you have both shutters and drapery panels on almost every window. Is there absolutely no view out of any of the windows?
Does the color scheme never get boring? How about adding just a few pieces of more colorful art and a few accessories in a color you like?

Felizlady- My husband likes his privacy and doesn’t want the hassle of closing drapes every night, therefore, we have blinds which are easy to open and close. If it were just my decision, there would be zero blinds in these rooms. I get to decorate how I want. He gets his privacy… teamwork.

No, I have not become bored with the neutral palette. It’s refreshingly peaceful and uncomplicated. That is the look I was going for. I do have a bedroom room that is all about the drama (photo attached), but I wanted an overall peaceful and airy look to the home.

Daisy, your house looks so peaceful and pretty. I feel as if you have made it just what you would like. May I ask where you got your prints on both sides of the mantle? IMHO, prefer drapes as in Window 1. They complement the serenity. I would not do anything behind the kitchen cornice. I did that once, and it got fussy. You have enough pretty wood to take care of design! Same with the nook. I'd leave all as is!!! Beautiful. PS Love your bedroom and dining mirrors. Where did you source them?

Catherinegr - Thank you for the kind words! Peaceful is definitely the look/feel I was hoping for :) Thank you, as well, for your recommendation. It's often difficult to see things from a fresh perspective when living in the space. I really appreciate your advice!

In regards to the prints in the family room, I purchased the frames from Hobby Lobby and the prints from Etsy. I've provided the link to those prints below. I've also included links to the dining mirror and headboard. The chair in the bedroom is from Crate and Barrel and discontinued. I purchased the desk from Wayfair several years ago and am unable to find it on their website any longer; however, I will keep looking. The other pieces (side tables and dresser) are antiques which were purchased from local antique shops a few years back. The book case was purchased from IKEA. You'll find that link below as well :)

Also, I tried to find the Lux Wing Chair from Crate and Barrel online, but it's sold out everywhere. I was able to find a similar chair at the website below. The style is very similar, but with just a twist at the top. There are several fabric options to choose from.

I think the roman shade you have chosen for the kitchen has a great pattern to work in the colors from the other room. I also think it would fit nicely under the cornice.
