The leaves, although not that close to the camera and clear, do not appear to be hydrangea leaves. The stems also do not appear to match hydrangea stems. Ask the owner if he/she can propagate one sedum for you.

Yes, they are a great pollinator plant. This is a pro in my mind. Really no need to be careful (unless you are deathly allergic, I guess?). I've planted many of these along our sidewalk and in the backyard. Lots of kids around and no one was ever stung. Truly, if you leave bees alone they will leave you alone.

Ditto to Sedum. We had them lining the front walkway at our last house-never again! Along with bees (love!), they also attract every wasp imaginable (years of repeated ouch!) so while I recommend them it might be a good idea to plant in low traffic areas.
