We've always had a pot or so on the porch.

Mine is doing nicely in my backyard.

I tossed a few out I didn't want and they rooted on their own. They seem very robust as long as it doesn't get too cold

My aloe does extremely well in the ground. its in a fairly shady area. spreads like crazy, reliably blooms on 36” stalks and are hummingbird magnets! one of my favorite shade plants.

Haven't planted them yet. Thanks, tannatonk, maybe I'll try putting them in the ground.

They are still in the nursery pots and they seem prone to rot. Lost a few leaves after the heavy rains last week.

I think I'll put them in my butterfly area where I have a lot of milkweed.

Hi Jane, and if you like hummingbirds, feed the aloe generously with whatever you have leftover from your orchid feedings and they will attract hummingbirds when the aloe flower spikes open their orange bell flowers.

P.S. sorry about the redundant hummingbird stuff, glanced at the previous posts and just missed it....

Don’t be sorry! I plant lots of hummingbird flowers and butterfly, bee plants. It’s tough growing many in Florida because of heat, humidity an bugs. Now we enter the rainy season and get soaked every day. I’m hoping the aloe can hold up! Thanks for the good info!
