It's not clear in the photo how that exhaust ducting is attached to the dryer, what sort of adapter/connector may be involved ... but it looks to be an airflow restriction situation.

Can the dryer be vented from the side? I see Samsung's website stating that some of dryers have 3 Way Venting.

It doesn’t seem that the piping is preventing the dryer going back further, the thickness of the dryer duct is which can’t change…

The vent is going through the wall to the outside. I believe another handy man special done by the previous owner.

Previous owner enlarged the master bathroom and instead of running the drain pipe to the (main line?) he took a shortcut, because the master sink is right behind the dryer wall. One would think paying a home inspector $500.00, that it would have been mentioned in the report, or during the inspection.

Revising it for exhausting out the right side will (presumably) make it a straight ducting shot to the exterior wall and eliminate that situation. Note that disassembly of the dryer is required to change the internals for side exhaust. The manufacturer probably/hopefully offers a conversion kit. Best to check the installation instructions (may be in the user manual or may be a separate document) for the details. Call an appliance servicer to do the conversion, or a competent handyman.

I got a quote of $350.00 to re-route the vent out to the side. I priced out a smaller less deep dryer at $500.00 and could sell this dryer. Thoughts?

DIY--cost of conversion kit. Lots of Youtube tutorials. Some dryers are more complicated than others. This one (GE Ultrafresh) is extremely easy because of the access panel.

Yeah, looking at the back of a few Samsung dryers and it looks as if the conversion is pretty similar ( -> easy) to the GE posted above.

Samsung said the drum needs to be removed to re vent the dryer, and that is out of my comfort zone. I’m going to go buy a telescopic vent to see if it will work.

Thank you for all your advice. I wound up swapping places on the appliances since the washer was smaller and pushed back farther with the water pipe behind it.
Now I have enough clearance to put on bifold doors, fingers crossed.
