I have a wood band around my hood, but it ties into my island and mantel. Post the rest of your kitchen. If you have other permanent wood accents id probably say yes.If you look at the second pic, that wood band instantly warms up that white kitchen.

Whichever you prefer be sure to keep it smooth for easy cleaning.

IMO that hood was not a good ide it should have a tleast not had spaces that will be almost inpossible to clean and IMO a wood anything above a range is just not good it will get greasey and the heat and steam will slowly discolor the white but now that youe this far if you have wood in the space then you might as well add it here

Patricia, I see your point, but a very efficient fan will be inside and the hood should not be any harder to clean than the cupboards you often see above the range hood.

Hard to know without a further-back photo but a wood accent probably is my vote. The hood is very simple and plain and needs some decor to give it some presence.

Unless you have the same wood elsewhere in the kitchen: no. You could still do the same trim shape on the bottom of the hood in white. I am not a fan of random wood trim without it relating to something else in the space.

A wood trim on your cooktop is not functional, unless it is just for show, and never seriously used.
