Plenty of people like dark blues in bedrooms. I don't think blue is trendy in a bedroom. Accent walls can sometimes work in bedrooms, but it depends on the room. Can you post a picture of the room or is the house not built yet? Also, paint colors don't exist in a vacuum, so it's helpful for the commenters to know what color your floors are. Are you going to be buying new bedding? If you're going to be using bedding you already have, post a picture of it.

I prefer accent walls to be those with no redeeming architectural details. I should imagine the bed would be a better focal point in a lighter blue room.

If you google navy blue bedroom, you will get so many inspiration photos. Maybe post a few that you like for people to get a sense of your style. I don't think blue is ever out of style and navy seems to be quite popular right now.

My only concern would be the dark wood bed in a dark blue bedroom. You might want to try to figure out a way that the bed isn't against a dark blue wall where it could disappear. I personally am not real fond of dark wood with navy - I think both things work better with other colors, but that's just my own bias. But you might want to consider that when deciding how dark to go.

Not a pro, but with the tray ceiling, barn door/exposed hardware and a good bit of color variation in the flooring tones, an accent wall or feature may be a tad much. A navy room with dark wood furniture with white bedding can be a unique, moody look and it can be pulled off well if it fits the rest of the home, but what you don't want is this light, bright, airy home with one room that is dark and moody and unrelated to the rest of the home.

Any color you’re interested in, do web searches, IG hashtags, Pinterest searches, etc to see it in various rooms. Check out IG pages of paint sites, too, for color ideas — Sherwin Williams, F & B, Benjamin Moore, Edward Bulmer, Behr, Kelly Moore, etc.

@olychick - Wasn't really trying to correct you. It can look great, but only if it fits within the context of the whole home.

My sister has Queen Anne antique furnishings and dark walls and has 2700k lighting. The whole home is moody. I have MCM furnishings, light walls, bold jewel tone colors and 5000k lighting. I couldn't pull off a moody bedroom, but my sister can't pull off lime green.

Jennifer, I didn't mean that you were trying to correct me, just that my own experience/assumptions were proved wrong by your gorgeous example! Interesting that 2 sisters have polar opposite styles.

Blue in a bedroom is a winner. You say you have lots of windows and light when you get up in the morning. I'm guessing you don't go back to the bedroom until it is time for bed...not an appreciable amount of natural light then.

Choose your blue for the morning light...north needs a hint of lavender, south/west needs a hint of gray,

I am on anything team blue, and while I love the deep rich ones shown, I am really intrigued with the ones at the start that @decoenthusiaste shared. (university and southlake). I clicked but coudln't find the paint colors. Any one want to hazard a guess?

ill be changing the bedding to more of a neutral to balance out the dark colors. we be keeping the barn door in the room white as well.

Oh, that's not as dark as I imagined; it will look good with most every shade of blue!

That's more of a light cherry or dark maple. I was thinking mahogany or even black. I think you'll want to use warm tones with that; similar to painting when you have orange tones in flooring. Warm greens like sage would be pretty with it.
