All the trees in the list are acceptable to the town, so the sizes are acceptable.

I'm considering the purple leaf plum. From the pictures I see it looks fairly dense with a nice shape. I'm just concerned about some comments that I read saying that the fruit dropping can be messy. I just don't know how messy.

I would have said the Cornus kousa, but to fit between the sidewalk and the street the pruning would approach mutilation.

i the purple plum is a god-awful tree not worth the effort to drag home and plant ... or have planted .... was thinking the same with all the cherry listed ... go figure.. gal and i on the same page .. yikes .. lol ...

VERY short lived .... 10 years of your lucky ... and prone to black know and gummosis ... i gave up after my 3rd one was removed ... by me ...

First choice in smaller tree: Trident Maple - Acer buergerianum

First choice in canopy tree: American Linden/Basswood - Tilia americana

Wondering why Gingko biloba is not on that list of urban planting options. Gingko is a no brainer in urbanized areas.

It's not on the list but I would strongly consider a Sourwood (Oxydendron arboreum). It is a beautiful tree. From the list, I would pick Shantung Maple.

Any thoughts on autumn blaze maple?
