We refinished the hardwood floors, gutted the laundry and stacked the washer and dryer so we had more room. Relocated the door from its old location to bring more light through to the front of the house and gutted the powder room too!

I think my absolute favorite is the quartzite countertops - we found these and fell in love, but worried they were “too much” both in appearance and cost. So we chose another pattern. Then we felt like we were settling and would say “yeah that worked” every time we saw them. We wanted to walk into the new kitchen and say “we love it!” Especially when spending so much on the reno! So we jumped off the cliff and used them. And we are SO glad we did!

Beautiful! And the white appliances look stunning. So crisp and clean, especially after seeing so many "black stainless" on this forum. Your choices for everything are really great.

So gorgeous! Love the blue cabinets and the counters are -- wowza! Looks like your fabricator did an amazing job lining up the veins from counter to backsplash. Also love the nod to bees in your pendants. Congrats and enjoy!

thanks for clarifying the BEE reference. I thought maybe that double hinged oven was a little keeping hutch facsimile. I wonder if I'll ever have a laundry room like that...what splendor to have that ... have to eek out space for those rooms.

Gorgeous! I like how the colors are tied in across the various rooms, and that countertop is marvelous.

But what I'm envious of? The laundry room. How I wish I had a laundry room with an efficient layout, lots of counter and storage space, and a WINDOW! The only way I'm going to get all that is to move...

Wow. Just gorgeous! Congrats!! I missed the entire reno process, but it's a bright spot to see your completed home. So. Very. Nice. I'd say your counters are worth every big $ and delay you encountered (ha, no pun intended).

@jemimabean they are from this sketchy website I was afraid to buy from but it turned out awesome! They shipped on time and we’re all in one piece. They had other shapes as well. The only thing we didn’t care for were the odd light bulbs that came with them som we switched them out. The fabricators were AMAZING with the counters and backsplash and even fabricated a sink for the powder room! @sara Mir the white cabinets are Sherwin Williams Rock Candy and we love them some said they look too gray and they do look gray next to a bright white but it was a recommended match to the GE Cafe appliances and it turned out to be perfect! The counters were an experience haha. We had chosen two slabs which the fabricator had said was enough then as we got down to fabricating it wasn’t quite enough. So we got VERY lucky and the stone company just happened to have ONE slab left and it was a book match to on of the slabs we already had - so it took some planning on the computer on their part but we were able to get almost all of it perfectly matched. Overall we are thrilled with how it turned out. So if you want something like this you need to ask for and find book matched slabs.

@Sara Mir I forgot to say the blue is Sherwin Williams Naval - it looks very different in different light and in photos.

@Sea Sea thank you and yes it was a crazy process. No one prepares you for how difficult it is to find slabs - the warehouses are poorly lit, they all tell you something different regarding material (quartzite vs marble) and you can’t ever see them on a horizontal plane which is very different than looking at them vertically in the warehouse. Then you pick your favorite and there is a list of people who have spoken for it and have it on hold before you. But what we found out was if you are ready to purchase immediately, have the fabricator call and offer immediate payment and you suddenly jump ahead of everyone who has it on “hold”. Many of those people hold things but find something different and never release the hold.

So pretty! I love all of your color choices, especially the amazing quartzite. Kudos to your fabricator for getting those veins to line up so nicely!

Can I ask what floor stain you used and the color? I love it and need to redo my dining and living room.

@Lynn - it is Absco stain in the color Kona. Thank you we love them too - however dark floors show EVERY footstep at first especially when the house still has a lot of construction dust. We tried SO MANY colors. We have red oak floors and it was hard not getting a dark that looked purple! We almost made a huge mistake with a mix of mahogany and ebony - it was very purple in some light but not in others. Thankfully we caught it in time!

The entire kitchen is gorgeous, but those counters are beyond amazing! Would you mind sharing where you found the Fantasy Macaubus? Also, I've seen White Macaubus - are those different names for the same stone, or is there a difference?

There are several different macaubas counters white macaubas has a more linear movement - like stripes, azul macaubas is blue, etc we found our slabs at Francini but we had also seen some at the stone collection, call around first if you are looking it will save time and miles of walking slab yards ;)

Thanks a lo for the explanation. I don't really mind too much walking around slab yards - I might come across something I like..
