How long has it been since those stains appeared? Is there moist insulation behind the wood? My cousin got rid of old water stains on unfinished cedar with Murphy’s Oil soap — she said it just took some elbow grease. I can’t see any of the stains where she cleaned.

It's been a couple weeks.  There's no moist insulation behind it and we're all dried out and water tight now.  Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try the Murphy's Oil Soap!

Don't use Murphy's anything. All it will do is not allow you top put any other finish other the top of the wood, ever. That stuff is basically death to wood. Once it is applied the only thing you can do is replace it the finish needs redoing.

By the way, it's currently unfinished and sandblasted, which is how we would like to keep it

Sanding is the only way and there are no guarantees that that will work, usually just lightens it up as you sand past the stain.

Why don’t you have the blaster come back and clean the stains by blasting with soda or the like?

I'll look into that option as well, thank you!  It's been sandblasted since long before we moved in here.

For unfinished wood do not add oils or anything that would further stain. First, try to sand it out. The next thing would be to actually go ahead and stain and finish the floor trying to blend it in.

Hi, I have removed water stains on popcorn textured ceilings using a mixture of 50/50 bleach and water. I don't know if it will work on wood. You may want to give it a try on a small place.

Use a bottle sprayer, if it works then use a garden sprayer. Make sure you cover carpets and furniture with plastic.
