Repair or Replace Siding?

House built in 1991, 2 story, 4000 SF, we plan to sell within the next 18-24 months. It has “hardboard” siding which is failing in a few places around rear of house. We have spare pieces. Given our timeframe, Is it worth replacing the entire house or ok to just repair? I would say over 95% is still in good shape.
