Recurring Drywall Screw Pops

I have a recurring drywall screw pop issue in the ceiling of the foyer in my 17 year old home. I have had the pops repaired several times and they reappear within a few months. The worst offender is along the ceiling next to a freestanding 5 foot wall, which has a kitchen cabinet on the opposite side. The last repair was in late November and by March they were back bigger and better than ever. My handyman said the drywall screws from last repair were in place when he repaired in November, so before another repair I felt we should do some exploring in the attic. He took these pics in the attic and I think those partial 2x4’s nailed to the truss are considered “dead wood”. I suspect this dead wood or something up there, possibly changes in moisture level, is causing movement over a short period of time. How do we repair this once and for all?
