I have that same trunk. I was it as a sideboard in entrance for mail, phone etc.

Old FAMILY trunk? DEFINITELY worth the work!

It has nice lines so in my opinion it is worth investing some time and money in it.

I also have the very same trunk and pretty much use it as a table in a bedroom as is. I haven't restored it and probably don't plan to. I like it.

I like my trunk too, but it needs cleaning up. The inside is bad and I think if I use it in the great room for end table and storage (of throws and blankets) I should finish the inside. From the comments (and thanks everyone), think I'll proceed.

Avoid wire brushing the fabric cover! Already in rough shape, the wire brush will do it no favors.

Definitely worth the work. Mine is in our family room full of puzzles.
