I saw another similar house in our neighborhood that looks so nice but I realize now that it’s not as much like ours as I thought - but these are the column brackets they have…do you still think it wouldn’t be right for my house? And yes the added landscaping would make a huge difference!

You don't need the brackets. Not right for your house. Stick to landscaping and possible faux vent at top area of gable. I think there is one in the house you just posted.

Looking harder at that photo, that is a real window in that house. Not a fan of that but they have different styling.

I'd get rid of all those over-clipped shrubs and put in lower, more interesting plantings leaving the porch railing visible on both sides.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that focusing on adding landscaping in the front yard and changing the plantings to leave the porch railing visible would be great improvements. I’ll look at faux gable vents/decor to see if anything seems like a good option. Lots of homes here have that and it doesn’t do much for me but I do think I like it better than nothing.
