kitchen remodel help

Hi,

We recently purchased a house which has the cooktop on the island. I would essentially like to move it to the wall next to the window/sink.. Would like to understand feasibility and perhaps ballpark estimate. Also the sink is a dual sink and would love to replace that with a single unit. (nice to have).

Be easier and cheaper to just put in a good overhead vent and increase the island overhang a bit more for safety, then a new island counter. That could run you 10-20K. Moving the cooktop, gas line, cabinets, redoing the counters, creating a ventilation route, adding all of the electrical for all of that, is very easily double to triple all of that.

so roughly 15k if the cooktop is left on the island and ~45k if completely remodeled? Still leaning towards moving it out of the island, have never liked is aesthetically or for safety reasons.

What are sizes of each upper and lower cabinet? In particular, how wide is the upper and lower cabinet in the middle of the run between sink and fridge? Could you remove that upper to insert a hood, and put the cooktop plumbing in the cabinet below?

the cabinets are 18" wide. Yes, I can afford to lose some cabinets.

Do you have wall ovens? Could they be replaced with a range?

Or....can you change the cooktop to an induction cooktop? The induction surface does not get hot.

I like the idea of replacing the middle set of uppers for 30" inch range. Would you be able to give a ballpark on the updates?

No sorry. Not any kind of building pro at all. Just a homeowner who has spent a year obsessively researching a kitchen remodel. In your case, I think your biggest expense would be the countertop fabrication. And that is the hardest thing in the world to get actual numbers for. Hopefully one of the pros here can give you more info.

There are things that will really affect pricing that we don't know even if we are qualified (not me). Like, is it on a slab or basement/crawlspace? Is there a second story that will make ducting a hood tricky?
