Hi all -

I am trying to clear up the area around my in-ground pool. Previously there was a thick layer of juniper around the pool area (by prev owner) - I decided to remove this and replace with mulch.

I managed to cut through the juniper last summer/fall and exposed the roots. I am now looking to prep the area before mulching (clearing weeds mostly) and removing any exposed stumps.

Do I need to completely uproot all stumps around the pool or can I layer fabric and mulch to level the area? Would greatly appreciate any advice here.
