It does grow suddenly but should also disappear equally as suddenly if you have some heat headed your way. Can't handle heat. I used to remove it but now I do nothing and it is already a distant memory @ my location.

LOL!! In my area, it removes itself by sticking to my dog's fur. I find bits of it all over the house :-)

Ladies Bedstraw is a different species, Galium verum, which has showy yellow flowers.

Galium aparine is not ephemeral in my climate.

You're lucky you don't have such high temps, Flora! :) Supposed to be 97°F here tomorrow (36°C). Was predicted to be that high today but it's gotten cloudy so it's only 92°, so far.

Omg, Tiffany! That’s too many degrees! It has yet to go over 80F here in the PNW. It’s been a oddly chill spring, but I can’t say I’m upset about it. The wildflowers have been good, the snowpack is good, and new transplants have had a long transition period.

I would be a floppy wreck at those temps, incapable of movement. Our hottest day so far this year briefly crept up to 72f. The cleavers are still in full spring growth.
