Well, I will post again, previous did not seem to take. I love the old rose, and the color on Violette is unusual to me, pretty. I went to Biltmore yesterday, and the roses are in bloom. Just beautiful!

For some reason, I was so wrapped up in looking I did not take many pictures. But this was a purple rose I had not seen before

Nan and Nancy - The photos are beautiful! I've never seen an iris like Bumblebee Delight. It's very striking!

Violette is such a pretty color! And I agree about the iris-very striking. Nancy, I think I have a picture from thst very same spot when I was at Biltmore one spring!! All their roses made my heart sing!!

Enjoy the rose pictures. The dark purple one is striking. When I tried a few modern roses described as dark purple, they all turned out to be darkish maroon instead of purple. The same as with daylilies. In different parts of the country however the growers swore they were purple. Goes to show you about climate and soil.......I like Bumblebee Deelite. I love your roses, none here……not worth the fuss and thorns to me, will enjoy other’s gardens. Pretty Iris and i see a lovely japanese maple in the background.

The Japanese maple was a lucky buy. They can be so expensive. We found a tiny one that wasn't expensive at Lowe's years ago. We planted it at our previous house. It grew nicely and we were sad at the prospect of leaving it behind so we decided to transplant it. We really didn't think it would make it, but it did. It apparently loves the place it is in--sort of protected by a big pine tree. It's probably 20 years old now.
