My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Embracing the Gold Tile: A Bathroom Refresh

I recently refreshed the bathroom in our 1924 home, which I believe was last updated in the '60s. I chose to keep the goldish bathroom tile and run with a jewel-toned look with warm woods. The Van Gogh print above the toilet was my color inspiration. I stripped and refinished the doors, added some new reproduction hardware and cleaned up the originals, replaced light fixtures, installed new period-appropriate floor tiles, swapped out the toilet and a sink I found on FB Marketplace, painted the walls (SW Rookwood Sash Green), added a vintage medicine cabinet, sourced replacement shower handles so everything would match, and installed bamboo blinds. Much of it I did myself, while my awesome handyman helped with a few of the more technical jobs. This was a fun project!

    Good job. Love that you embraced the original wall tile and mixed it up a bit with the new floor, yet still period appropriate. It helps to have a vision. Your bathroom is so much more alluring than most that are created new today. History is a grand thing.
