I would suggest LVP IMO tile floor is hard on legs , knees backs and feet . With kids a fall on a tile floor is much more apt to do damage too, I have LVP in my walkour basement we have 3 huge dogs in and out at will to dog run in all kinds of weather and a quick mop makes the floors look like new 15 yrs later. We also have a pool with access to the walkout that floor stands up to all the traffic, water and I love it.Mannington does so very nice vinyl tile look if you want more that style. I like the choices with their Adura Flex.

If it is a smaller sized home I would suggest the same flooring throughout to help unify all the different spaces. Glossy tile often presents a slip hazard especially for older folks and kids. So, would suggest LVP. It has warmth that tile doesn't. Would suggest a simple and plain wood look. Floors IMO generally shouldn't make a bold statement but should provide a more neutral background for rugs and furnishings. Good luck!

I've owned homes in the northeast, CA and now FL. There is no difference in my flooring! All have had real wood floors, although we did have to use engineered in the FL house due to it being on a slab. I did a long back hallway in tile because that is the main path from garage to kitchen and where my dogs hang out when we are out. Bathrooms have tile with non-skid finish, except for formal powder with a polished/glossy tile.

I would use LVP or engineered in most of the house, except for bathrooms, mudroom, laundry which should have tile.
