Add some pillows, a hanging light, and call it a reading nook?

I’d add a framed print, lamp, bowl or other simple decor. I realize there’s no outlet, the lamp would be for looks. I think the stone makes a great console table, and I’m guessing fits the aesthetic of your house. I’m in Texas and this would be common here. Examples:

How long is the hallway? Are you wanting a rug?

Is that stone anywhere else in your home? If that table is the only use in your home, rip it out and maybe build another repeating a material from your home.

You may not be able to remove the structure, but it can definitely be refaced in wood. Possibly, even shelves or other storage could be added.

Alternatively, talk to a flooring person. They may be able to feather in some boards that are stained to match. It depends on whether the floor is engineered or solid wood planks.

If you aren't in the position to spend money, Jinx' recommendation is good.

I think I suggested big art last time you posted about these stone parts of your room. I stand by that idea.

contractors here in TX, to get sometbing so minor, they won’t even come out - it’s crazy right now.

Answering the other question, yes there is stone on our fireplace as well as the entire exterior.

You can get lamps with batteries.

You can purchase battery operated flickering tapers from Pottery Barn.

Wonderful to layer liked objects - a spot for rotating as you wish - organic, or Asian art, etc...

If you’re handy, getting it out and replacing it with something that covers the floor gap is obviously going to make you the happiest. And yes, NO contractor will come out for this kind of job. Maybe, just maybe, a handyman?

The floor isn’t an issue if the replacement is the right size. For now, do what Beverly, Houssaon and Jinx suggested to make yourself feel better.

You could add a light wood counter, to soften and offset the amount of stone, a large mirror to help with balance and reflect light, experiment with accessories (heights/grouping) and add a battery operated lamp. The vignette will draw the eye and make it feel more attractive.
