Horizontal ducting for a range

We currently have a microwave oven, with an incorporated range ductless hood, and we would like to switch to a stainless steel range hood with a stronger fan. There is an exterior wall about 14 feet away and it wouldn't be too hard to run a duct horizontally from the new hood to the exterior wall to vent outside. However, I have two questions: Q# 1) Is 14 feet too long for a horizontal ducting for a range? Q# 2) Is there any required slant or tilt required per foot, to insure the vent fumes go out? Or is a straight line OK? I know that pluming drain lines have to maintain a slight tlt downwards to insure the waste water always goes down.
