Robinia pseudoacacia has odd pinnate leaves. This looks more like Gleditsia triacanthos. A look at the bark might help confirm.

Honey Locust has vicious thorns that evolved to repel megafauna. The megafauna are gone but the thorns remain.

Gleditsia triacanthos also has bipinnate compound leaves - as illustrated - which Robinia pseudoacacia lacks.

Common Honeylocust is also a prolific colonizer, producing flocks of suckering stems from its root system. mybrownthumbz6: has anyone cut down/removed a Honeylocust anywhere nearby recently? If so, there will be more of these stems evidenced in the area.
