I use bowling alley wax on my stripped pine.

Just an FYI, I doubt your piece was made in the 1800's. I think the reclaimed wood could be from the 1800's, but newly assembled in Ireland. Years ago stripped pine was very, very popular in my neck of the woods. I had several beautiful pieces that were quite expensive. I was told up front that the wood was old but the construction of the piece was recent.

You may want to ask the seller for its provenance.

Depends on what the finish is already on the pine. If it's waxed linseed oil bay ball up....if it's a wax finish, any hard wax ( blwling alley wax is good) containing a wax that dries hard like carnauba is good.

If you use Linseed oil, make sure it is oiled. That said, in the wrong conditions, linseed oil finishes are sticky.
